Custom Paper Bag Shop at Trivandrum

Wide Range  of  Paper Bags
Vedika Traders- Cloth, Paper Bag Store at Tvm

Brown Covers and Cloth Bag

Here's one accidental discovery - rather I should say that I spotted a new store selling paper and cloth bag in Trivandrum.

So, here's how I noticed this store. On my way back from a shopping trip from Stains at Attakulangara, Trivandrum, I noticed paper bags and covers kept outside this store. As, I keep buying these bags for my baking class, I stopped to have a closer look.

The shop owner was a pleasant young man who explained in detail all about his merchandise. This is rather unusual in this pas most shop owner or sales staff I see in Trivandrum usually appear ever busy or just flatly refuse to delve more info.

He said he can do custom printing work on the cloth or paper bag and I collected the cost and other details.

I wish him all success, goodwill on his new venture.

Pls visit this store to get more details of bags and custom printing works.

Day in the Life of a Baking Intern

What is it to become an intern or as a trainee and work side-by-side with a baking trainer?

Well, the answer should come from the intern themselves. However, from my view here are my thoughts on baking internship.
  • It's a Learning opportunity ( Try new recipes)
  • Experience of all sorts ( Meet People, visit new place)
  • Get to know the inside-story ( How to prepare and market for a class)
Experience of Working as a Baking Intern

As a person who conducts baking workshops in Bangalore, Trivandrum and Hyderabad, I come across many people with different goal in mind. Most students who attend are home bakers or those looking for a basic know-how on baking and there are students who are keen to become trainers. So, it's a mixed bag of people coming together for learning.

In my classes, I have a lot of things to manage, assemble and prepare for the class. It's this task that often zap my time and energy. Also, in the class, it would be great relief, if some part of the lecture or demo is taken by someone who's good at it.

Till date, I had three interns who joined me from Bangalore. These young ladies were my students in Bangalore, who came with me to Trivandrum and stayed with me close to a month.

Ghanakshi Ganeshan

The first person who joined me was Ghanakshi. She is an exuberant young lady who at that time had plans to attend Diplôme de Pâtisserie class in Lavonee. So, at this juncture, she wanted to prepare herself with an overall experience in baking. So, she decided to join me to Trivandrum and know the nuances of taking a baking class.

Now, she's a chocolatier by profession after gaining much experience from a big chocolate brand based in Mysore. She has started a home based business, where she teaches chocolates and sells hand-crafted chocolates.

Dhanya Gangaharan

Next was Dhanya who stays on the same street. She had just left her corporate job and had an interest in baking which she wanted to pursue on a professional level.

She too had a good experience during her stay in Trivandrum. Visited few places, like Padmanabhaswamy Temple, and other places around Trivandrum. During her stay, her fiancee made a surprise visit, much to her delight. :)

Now, she takes baking classes at Banaswadi area and also takes customized cake orders.

Saisanchita Selvamani
Sai Sanchitha, a dentist by profession has turned to baking as a newfound love. Being a military officer's daughter, she was used to travelling, and meeting people from different background and culture.

New Place - New Experience

As a city which lies in close proximity to Arabian sea, sea food is a part of the daily food intake. This means that sea food is part of our daily diet. So, if you're a fish lover, there's more you can savor and even learn fish curry dishes during your stay in Trivandrum.

Daily Duties as an Intern

In a typical day on the job, you'll wear many hats - from planning, organizing, setting-up the work space and other work include:
  1. Preparing the checklist and cross-check of items
  2. Ensuring that ingredients are procured and stocked
  3. Overseeing the training session
  4. Taking a part of the training session
  5. and many more
Apart from the work listed above, there's no shortage of work - from the prior day planning to the class management, photography, online posting, etc.

So, come ready to learn, experience and make the best of the opportunity to learn thing on the job.

Beyond the Recipe and Story of the Food

Why we choose a Recipe Book

✤Is recipe book just about the recipe? What's more in it?
✤What tempts you to pick a recipe book?
✤Does your cook book collection say something about you? (Probably nothing)
These questions ran in my mind after I spend some time gazing at my recipe book collection.
I often end up buying new recipe book for different reasons - At times, it's the story around the recipe, or after seeing a familiar name or the sumptuous food photographs.

★These two recipe books are special - The Suriani Kitchen by Lathika George takes you through the spectrum of life, stories around food and has a collection of wonderful recipes.
★ The Tried Out Recipes (Ninth Edition) published by Inner Wheel Club club of Trivandrum comes with a big list of tried and tested recipes. They were the pioneers in Trivandrum, when it comes to culinary skill training.

Many people would remember their office in University Road at Trivandrum. Kudos to all the ladies who worked as a team - veteran chefs, homemakers, professionals and culinary instructors who did a fantastic job in running their Home Science Academy.
